My family and I got to experience God work in an amazing and clear way a few years ago.  Our family of five were driving back to our hometown in Kentucky after taking a trip to New York. We had stayed the night at a hotel north of Columbus, Ohio. As we were heading out the next morning, we had made it a mile on the highway when the transmission was slipping and the car just stopped. My dad pulled over and couldn’t drive the car, so my mom called the tow truck.

We waited for an hour, and the tow truck finally arrived. The guy who came hooked up the car and we all gathered into the truck. But there was a problem. There were only four seats available for our family so one of us wasn’t able to ride in the truck. My dad let my family and I in the truck while he decided that he was going to walk a couple miles back to the tow truck company. While my dad started walking his way on the side of the highway, my family were in the truck, when my mom realized that he could have come in the truck with us. The middle seat up front was down, and it was being used as a cup holder. None of us had realized it! The tow truck guy turned around on the highway and went to pick up my dad.

As we went, my mom got a phone call. It was from my dad’s old friend, Monica, who he had met at a church. Monica lived in Rochester, New York, so my mom was surprised that she was calling. Monica told my mom she had a really weird question and then continued to tell my mom she had just seen Josh (my dad) walking on the highway and was wondering if that was him. My mom told her yes, and that our car had broken down. Monica explained to my mom that she and her husband were each driving empty minivans to deliver to her sister. She offered to drive us all to Cincinnati, and my mom agreed. After picking up my dad, we met Monica at the tow truck place.

All the while, the tow truck man told us that he was a pastor’s kid, and stuff like this had happened to him a lot as a child, but he had forgotten. He also told us that he had strayed, and that after seeing what happened to us, he knew it was a God thing. We all drove in the minivan with all our luggage (we had a lot of stuff), to Cincinnati, where a church member that my dad called drove us back to our hometown. Our little adventure was definitely a crazy one, and points us to God every time we remember it. If we hadn’t broken down, we wouldn’t have been able to talk to the tow truck guy about God. If we had noticed the middle front seat was down then Monica wouldn’t have noticed my dad walking on the highway, and we wouldn’t have a ride and would have been stuck with only our luggage, north of Columbus. Each little piece connected into a bigger puzzle to point people to Jesus.

This is my story of how I saw God move in a really powerful way in my life.

In July of 2022, I was with my family driving on I-95 in Northern Florida. We were 2-3 hours from home, at the beginning of what was going to be a three week trip, when our van suddenly started smoking. We pulled off to the side of the road, and my dad started calling for a tow truck. My mom texted our friends, who were coming back from Georgia but lived in Florida, wanting to ask them for prayer for us. But they actually ended up coming to us. Not even 10 seconds after our friends pulled up, the tow truck arrived. Our friends drove my mom, sister, and myself to a mechanic, and the tow truck drove my dad. We got to the mechanic, and, long-story-short, a man who was sitting at the mechanic ended up buying our van. And our friends stayed with us the rest of the day, and actually spent the night at our hotel. The Lord quickly provided a replacement van. It was as if God was making sure that we had a new van before we left for our trip. From start to finish, the Lord had His hand so clearly on us.
