Opal Buloni is 10. One day, she goes for a grocery store run and returns with a dog who was making havoc in the store. But it's because of furry Winn-Dixie that Opal begins to build beautiful friendships. One is with an older woman named Gloria Dump, who keeps a Mistake Tree full of bottles. They remind her that she can learn and grow from her past.
